We are all familiar with the problem of socks slipping down in sneakers, boots and more types of footwear. It is not only adults who have trouble with their socks when they slip under your feet, children and even babies also experience this frustrating problem. But why do your socks slip down?
Boots
Maybe not the first thought when you think of a slipping sock, but people often have a problem with the socks in their boots. They slide off quite quickly, causing them to sit double under your heel or sole, which really annoys you. As a solution, we tried normal checked high socks, thick high socks, normal H&M socks, sports socks (which are the worst...), but nothing helps. When asked for tips, you quickly end up with ankle socks from SOLIT .
But why do socks slip off in boots?
There are several reasons why your socks slip down in boots. For example, it could be because your socks are too small. If your socks are too small, they will logically slip down. Another reason could be that your shoe is not tight enough. If your shoe is loose at the heel of your foot, it will constantly 'chafe' against the sock. The shoe simply pulls your sock down. Finally, the most common reason that your socks slip down in boots and shoes is that the elastic in the band of the sock is not tight enough. SOLIT socks have a reinforced band that does not pinch and never slip down!
Sneakers
Perhaps the best-known problem with sneaker socks; the pockets under your foot. Many people prefer to wear low socks in their sneakers. The only problem is that low socks sag down to under your foot. Especially the well-known ankle socks from, for example, Hema often sag down because the elastic in the band is not strong enough.
But why do socks sag in sneakers?
There are also several reasons why your socks slip down in sneakers. The most common reason why socks slip down in sneakers is a too 'loose' band in the sock. Socks often have a band with elastic in it. If this elastic in the band is not tight enough, your sock will often slip under your foot. SOLIT socks have a reinforced band that never slips down and does not pinch. Secondly, a common problem is that your sneakers are too big or not tied tight enough. Because your sneaker is too loose, it actually pulls your sock down. You can easily solve this by tying your shoes a bit tighter. In the future, pay attention when buying your sneakers that they fit nicely around your foot (not too tight of course :)).
Tip: Use a size chart when buying new shoes.
Baby socks
Expected or not, babies also suffer from socks that slip down. Especially because of all the movement, the sock gets a lot of resistance, which causes it to slowly slip off the foot and eventually end up somewhere where no one can find it anymore. This can be prevented by giving the sock a strong band, such as with SOLIT. The band is strong enough to stay above the ankle, but not too tight to take away the comfort. This is important for the blood circulation and is therefore not affected. However, babies do have a factor that we do not immediately think about; the size of the foot grows like crazy. As a result, the sock quickly becomes too small and needs a new size. As long as new socks are bought regularly, the problem of slipping down can be prevented if they are the right socks.
